Christmas At the Capitol
It's a Pierre holiday tradition. Nearly 100 live trees, decorated by volunteers from across the state, are on display in the capitol building from November 22 - December 27, 2018. This year's Christmas at the Capitol theme is "A Monumental Christmas". It's open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is free to the public. The South Dakota Discovery Center
The South Dakota Discovery Center offers fun, hands-on science exhibits that are perfect for kids of all ages. Get inspired as you play and learn on displays like the tree house, Van de Graf generator (a hair raising experience), and Knex building station. During the winter the center is open Sunday – Friday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
The South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center & Museum
Discover the diverse history of the state at the South Dakota Cultural
Heritage Center. Nestled into a bluff north of the capitol building, the
Center is the headquarters of the South Dakota State Historical Society and
houses exhibits, the state archives and more. The Center is open Monday
through Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Sundays & Holidays 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
The Museum is closed New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas
